Kristiina Mäenpää is a Helsinki-based visual artist, working with installation, sculpture and photographic mediums. Her work emphasizes the dialogue between the art work and the exhibition space, focusing especially on the meanings and durational layers carried by different materials. 

Mäenpää´s background as a visual artist is in photography, which is reflected in her  works as the thematics of temporality. She sees the notion of photographic as traces of duration in materials, as an extension to the trace of light on a light sensitive surface.
